Phil. 2:6 "thought it not robbery" (HCSB and TNIV vs. KJV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, NET, NLT, AMP and NIV)

Have you ever wondered what it meant when Jesus
thought it not robbery to be equal with God” (Phil 2:6 KJV)?
I never understood that part. Jesus was fully man, but also fully God, why would he consider it robbery to be equal with God?

ESV and NASB states that he
did not count/regard equality with God a thing to be grasped
I still didn’t really get (grasp? Winking) the meaning here.

I didn’t really understand this scripture until I read HCSB a couple of days ago, it says that Jesus
did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage

HCSB also has this foot note: “Or to be grasped, or to be held on to”

Checking NLTse, I see that they use “something to cling to”, which is not clear enough for me. But the TNIV uses the same as Holman CSB, so I guess TNIV was the first to use the “used for His own advantage” solution. The NIV and NET used “to be grasped”, like ESV and NASB. AMP uses “to be eagerly grasped or retained”.

So, thanks TNIV and HCSB for making me finally understand this verse! Happy
